Student Compositions
Many of our students enjoy composing music. Some of them have produced CDs of their compositions to give to family and friends. A few students have taken that further and produced a commercially available CD and matching sheet music. Click on the links below to hear samples of some of the pieces they have composed.
Jeff Gregory – All for You
In his own words, Jeff says,
In November of 2004, I walked into my piano lesson as my teacher, Karen Pancoast, was just finishing playing a song she had written. I told her I thought that was cool, and that I wish I could write songs. “You can,” she said. “Just pick a chord progression you like and put a melody to it.” I thought “impossible, not me.” Well, that afternoon I wrote All for You. I brought it back for my next lesson, played it for her, and she liked it! With that encouragement, I was on my way. I put together a couple more pieces that I’d played around with but had never finished. After playing those for Karen, came the challenge. She said, “Put together 10 songs and we’ll make a CD and songbook.”
